A Passion for What You Do
A few years ago, I graduated with a degree in an area that I was over-the-top passionate about.
I had entered a tourism management program because I knew that I was crazy about travel and tourism. I loved how positive and beneficial tourism could be for a community or a region and how significant and impactful travel can be in our lives. I soaked up every bit of information and experience that I could get my hands on; I even went all the way to Auckland, New Zealand to participate in a special internship at the New Zealand Tourism Research Institute.
However, when I entered the workforce the experience was slightly anticlimactic. I had the constant sensation of excited energy boiling just below the surface and the jobs that I was working at the time just barely took the edge off.
My passion has never been difficult to define— even as a child I anticipated the day that I would finally be able to explore all of the exotic destinations that I had read about in my books. I started travelling not long after I finished high school and fell in love with the adventure of it all. It is easy to get a hunger and appreciation for what the world has to offer and the many amazing places that are out there for us to experience.
Over the last couple of years, I have thought long and hard about how I can best use my experience and skills and apply it to my passion in a way that I can make a real career out of it. I now know that this is it-- I am a Travel Professional. I want to spend my time, energy, and resources helping people achieve their best travel experiences because that is what I know, that is what I love, and that is what I’m good at. I have had some many amazing travel experiences and I hope that never ends because it brings me a lot of joy. If I can share that joy with others, helping them create memories of their own that they can cherish, then that is a career I know is perfect for me. The world is full of amazing opportunities... never stop reaching for them.
